What is business all about?

  • Profit is the goal of business. According to my dictionary, profit is an advantageous gain or return; benefit.
  • With that in mind, you have formed a business around a product or service that you have a high degree competence.
  • If you have been in business for a while, you know what is most profitable to your business. (If you don’t, then lets talk about financial consulting.)
  • Now the trick is to create more transactions, gain more clients or decrease your overhead.
  • A free market will allow those with the most competence and the greatest recognition to rise to the top. Work on being the best in your business and then tell EVERYONE about it you possible can!

Marketing your product or service can be an expensive proposition. The most frustrating experience is paying hundreds or thousands of dollars for an ad with no trackable results. Field of Dreams worked for a nice movie, but “build it and they will come” isn’t what you want for your marketing efforts.

Focus:
The information is available to focus in on your target customer and touch that customer in a way that is trackable. Determining your ideal customer will take some thought on your part if you have not done so already. With that knowledge, you can tailor an ad campaign to educate and entice your target.

Consistency:
After you have your target in mind, you need to look inward at the image that you want to present to your target. Keeping with a branded look throughout your letterhead, web site,     e-mails and direct mail pieces will build awareness for your company.

Plan:
Build a database of clients and referrals to continually drip on with your marketing materials. You have to work hard to remain “Top of Mind.” People are bombarded with info today.

It’s all in the numbers. Once you have your target demographic determined, you have to find a way to reach them with your message. The more finely focused your message is, the greater the odds of success in converting those contacts into profits.
